Frikkie de Beer
Frikkie de Beer learnt the demanding skills of playing prop growing up in South Africa.
De Beer featured for the Chicago Lions in their 2017 and 2019 Midwest Championship victories and wants to make his mark in MLR after two appearances off the bench for the Warriors (2019-20).
He is now USA-qualified having first experienced rugby and travelling around the country in his early 20s.
A willing ball-carrier, this one-year deal means the strongly-framed prop can work at his craft under scrum coach Alex Corbisiero, the former British and Irish Lions prop.
De Beer can play both loosehead and tighthead prop which means extra versatility for the Giltinis.
De Beer showed his willingness to keep fit and ready last year when he and several of his Chicago Lions colleagues made a gym shed to keep working on weights when the season shut down.
De Beer said he was grateful to UCLA coach Dave Clancy for alerting him to a possible opening at the Giltinis after the pair had enjoyed success in Chicago.
Following a handful of matches, De Beer was release from the squad in June and at the end of his short term contract.
