Luke Carty

Luke Carty joins the Giltinis from Ireland after a promising rise through the academy ranks. A former Ireland U18s player, Carty made his mark with the Connacht U18s, named their player of the year in 2015. The utility back made his Connacht A debut in 2016, going on to feature for the reserve side in 2017 and 2018 as well. Carty played the bulk of his rugby with All-Ireland side the Buccaneers in recent years, winning a 1B title with the team in 2017.. That same season, he signed his first Connacht Academy contract. Carty was named the Buccaneers’ Player of the Year in 2019.

Like many Irish athletes, Carty also has a history in Gaelic football and was among a number of players invited to an AFL combine in 2015 and 2016, in the hopes of potentially being recruited to an Australian rules team. Carty is USA qualified through a grandmother born in New York.

Off the field, Carty is a commerce graduate, currently studying a masters of International Business.
